The ecosystem-based management of boreal forest in Quebec

The ecosystem-based management concept is relatively recent in Quebec. Its gradual setting-up joins in the renewal of the forest practices to answer more adequately the ecological concerns inherent to the concept of sustainable forest development, which contains legal fondations in the law on forests.

Review of key periods marking development of forestry in Quebec over the last four centuries
The industrial revolution and the agricultural revolution of the Neolithic period represent two of the most significant periods of change in history. Of the last 10,000 years, the current period beginning about 250 years ago marks human fate to such a degree that men of tomorrow will have few things in common with the man of yesterday.
