Balance sheet of the ligneous material in 2007
The plan and first graph to the right allows to follow the big stages of the industrial circuit of the ligneous material in Quebec in 2007 and its scale. This year there, the Quebecois factories of primary processing of the wood consumed 35,2 million cubic meters (measured under bark) of unhewn timber among which 79 % in coniferous essences.
According to the groups of products stemming from a primary processing, it is the lumber industry that was the biggest consumer of unhewn timbers while it monopolized 50% of the consummate supply. The factories of pulp and papers come in the second position with 44%, then come the factories of panels with 11%.
Other manners include the energy products, charcoal and others. The quantity produced in the category of the other products is not given in the raw datas.
The ecosystem-based management of boreal forest in Quebec

The ecosystem-based management concept is relatively recent in Quebec. Its gradual setting-up joins in the renewal of the forest practices to answer more adequately the ecological concerns inherent to the concept of sustainable forest development, which contains legal fondations in the law on forests.
